Backup your files in the cloud with Dropbox

How does 2 gig of free online storage sound? Well you can with this really sweet application! I’ve been using it for 6 months and it’s just great to be able to “set it and forget”; once a file is in my dropbox I know I can blow up my PC and still have full backups. That’s a good feelin’ :0)

Let me give you a little breakdown of the features:

  • Up to 5GB free storage (2GB to start, +250MB every time someone is referred by you)
  • Share files publicly – anything you add to your “public folder” can be shared via a link on the web – like this one. What’s super-cool about that is that any time I change that file, it will instantly update on that URL too. Heck, I could publish an entire website that way!
  • Synchronise multiple computers! Yes – if I edit a dropbox file on my windows machine and then log in to my linux box, it’ll automatically update the relevant file on that box as well!
  • Photo galleries - check out some of my photos. Hosted on dropbox, managable from anywhere.
  • Dropbox is fast; it only uploads/downloads the parts of the files that have changed; so if you make a 1Kb edit to a 250Mb file, dropbox will only need to transfer that 1Kb across the network. How neat is that?!
  • Web frontend – you can view, download, edit, add new or remove your files via the web if you’re on a different computer.
  • Full revision history! Ever wanted “undo” to last after you close the editor? With dropbox you can access the full revision history of each file. This is a pro feature that really distinguishes dropbox from the crowd.

Download dropbox now!

If you sign up via one of the links on this page, you get an extra 250Mb as well :)

(I’ve already got the full 5 gigabytes of free storage on my dropbox account, so the referral links on this page are just for friends)

    My review for this.

It’s great tool for those who have high speed internet but for me it’s not too useful. But it still safe to have data there.

    Worth to try.

    My rating 4/5

Dropbox reallly has been a godsend for me, now that I have been using it for the passed few months, I could never imagine life without it.

Highly recommended to all. Thanks for reminding me about how much love I have for Dropbox!

Dropbox is really useful for me too. It has saved so much of my time over the past few years, and I doubt I would be able to survive (no exaggeration!) without it. This addon definitely has my recommendation.
